A few setbacks

Over the past few weeks here at the Red Rowhouse, we experienced a few setbacks. A certain fluffy puppy is to blame for the first set back.

Glorious, glorious…mud?

You may remember back in October, we planted some grass seed to replace the gray rocks that were in the front yard. 2 weeks later, we did have green grass in the front yard and it was marvelous! A picture from those heady days:

And then, we got a puppy. Our adorable, little puppy whom we couldn’t walk around the city block for a month, until he was fully immunized. Instead, he would run like a maniac around the front yard, destroying our young green lawn. Now we have this:

A yard full of mud. Mud that the adorable puppy tracks into the house on the regular. Some days I wish for the gray rocks to come back. In hindsight, sod would have been a better choice to put down immediately before adopting a puppy.

However, Mike is determined to bring the grass back this Spring so we’ll see what the yard will look like in a few months. Hopefully it will be more resilient the next time around. Otherwise…astroturf?

High fiber dog food

In my last post, I mentioned that we got a couple $20 rugs from Home Depot as training rugs for Thambi. Well good thing we did because he somehow got loose from the kitchen while we were at work and ate part of one as a light snack. It now looks like this:

Thankfully, the dog at least is still alive and kicking. The rug’s days are numbered, but frankly they always were. Our good rug is bound up in the basement, until Thambi matures a little.

Bathroom leaks

In the past couple months, we have experienced two bathroom leaks. One from the shower and one from the toilet (ewww, I know) and each necessitated making a hole in the ceiling right above our lovely new dining room light. It certainly doesn’t have the same, warm effect when one can see the toilet drain in the background.

The leaks are fixed for now but let’s just say that these leak episodes have accelerated the timeline for a certain project. Here’s a hint:

More details coming soon, I promise!

And now…a puppy picture:
