Our lawn

A brief history & update

Posted by Priscilla on May 22, 2016

When we first moved into the house, we didn’t have a lawn. Instead we had a bunch of rocks. A pic from roughly a year ago:

Then in the Fall, we removed the rocks and planted glorious grass! A few weeks later, we had some proud, little grasslings:

Our joy for that glorious grass is documented here.

It was a magical time! New lawn, new puppy, the wonders of fauna and flora were all around us. But then…

…Death

The grasslings were no match for Thambi, who traipsed around the yard stamping out life as he did. Poor, little grasslings.

But wait!

A hero arrives on the scene: Mike, the Grasslayer! Swiftly, seeds are sown, water is sprinkled, puppies are barred from lawn traipsing! And then, BEHOLD!

Wild, dense grass is born! Full, thick, healthy! Spring comes and cherry blossom petals dust the lawn in a whimsical pink confetti, the Grasslayer tames it with his blades:

And now…a puppy picture

The grass, deeply rooted now, easily recovers from the pounces of a fluffy puppy. Traipsing returns and all is well at the Red Rowhouse. Thambi playing with his green ball on his new lawn:

Next time on Red Rowhouse

We move back into the house next weekend. Although the reno won’t be complete for another few weeks, we’ll have one working bathroom so I’ll post some updates shortly afterwards.

A preview: fixing some structural issues in the basement so our repaired stairs won’t shift over time:
