The Wardrobe

Part 2 of (maybe) 3

Posted by Priscilla on April 20, 2018

Back in December of 2016, we began the Wardrobe project. You can read about that here. Well it only took us a year to complete part 2. And by “us”, I mean Michael, because I didn’t lift a finger for Part 2.

A reminder of what Part 1 looked like when completed:

This past March, I went on vacation for a long weekend and when I came back, Mike had finished adding the cubbies at the top of the wardrobe, with nice trim to make the wardrobe look built in. Maybe I should go on vacation more often:

A close up look of Mike’s excellent craftsmanship:

Our master bedroom is really coming together! And we appear so organized!

There will be a part 3 of the wardrobe. There’s a little gap on the left side where we store our ironing board. Mike is planning on creating some sort of door to hide it but that little project is pretty far down our list of projects. We might be retired before we get to it.

Making the entryway more functional

We’ve been making some progress on the decorating front in 2018. I was inspired by our friend Annie who moved to town in December. She and her wife decorated their two bedroom condo in about a month!! And their place looks like it came straight out of an Apartment Therapy post; it is so chic.

First a baby furnishing project. When we moved in, the previous owner left a coat tree. You can see it in the picture below:

But the coat tree would fall over from the weight of all the coats. It also blocked precious light from the front window. So we decided to get some entry way hooks and a bench from Pottery Barn. Now our entryway looks like this:

It also helps to visually break up the wall between the front door and our staircase. I think our feng shui is a bit more balanced now. I need to get some more things to put on the shelf though. Anyone have ideas?

And now…a puppy picture.

It’s spring time here in DC. Our next door neighbor has a lovely cherry blossom tree that dumps pretty pink petals into our yard. It’s quite picturesque so Mike and I forced Thambi to pose amongst them.

Mike threw some of the petals into the air. Thambi tried to attack the petals but first he was confused:
