Kitchen Demo!

Country Edition

Back in October, we demo-ed the kitchen and by we, I mean mostly Mike.

The kitchen was really in good shape but just out-of-date. To remind you what it looked like:

Here he is pulling the cabinets apart.

While demo-ing, he found some cool blasts from the pasts! There was a cookbook shelf that was hidden under a cabinet. I kinda like it, not sure why they are no longer in fashion.

He also found this cool letter, not as old-timey as our DC house but still in the era when people would still use typewriters and snail-mail. Can’t believe 1993 was 30 years ago.

Mike gets very excited about dumpsters. We were able to get this one at a reasonable price!

And just like that, the kitchen was demo-ed! The walls between the kitchen and dining room are going to come down also but there is a little bit of structural stuff that needs to be done first.

Mike created a hole in the wall so we could get a sense of the view that we will eventually have from the kitchen!

Painting the trim

While Mike was busy demo-ing, I busy myself painting all the trim in two bedrooms, including doors.

Prepping includes tape but also making sure that Thambi has a comfortable place to watch us. Doggo comes first!

I used Sherwin Williams Alabaster for the trim as well but chose a semi-gloss finish.

Thambi found an even closer spot to watch me paint some doors.

Finally, I installed the door hardware on the finished door - the modern farmhouse look is starting to fall into place!

We also put together the guest bed and of course Thambi immediately jumped on it.

And now…a puppy picture.

Thambi really enjoyed the paint drop cloth for some reason. Here’s another pic of him enjoying his supervisory perch!

Finally, Mike captured another sunset. In the Fall, the sun sets right between the trees, making a lovely view straight on from the deck.
